14-year-old boy wanted in connection to deadly St. Pete shooting of 11-year-old

Officers are actively investigating; no arrests have been made yet.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Police are searching for a 14-year-old boy for his alleged involvement in a deadly Thursday night shooting of an 11-year-old in St. Petersburg.

The shooting happened sometime before 10 p.m. at a home on 11th Avenue South near 43rd Street South, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release. Police said the 11-year-old, identified as Veondre Hargrove, died at the scene inside the home.

Detectives say they are searching for a 14-year-old and, at this time, no arrests have been made. Police said he and the 11-year-old were visiting a friend when a fight happened, leading to Hargrove being shot. 

10 Tampa Bay is not naming the teen as of this writing pending more information from police. The agency said they are looking for the teen for "his connection" with the case. 

The investigation is ongoing.
