ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. -- A South Pasadena woman faces several charges in two separate crashes Saturday, one of which killed a man.
Carolyn Yovan, 51, is accused of being drunk when she drove up onto the sidewalk and hit 40-year-old Peter Chenhall of St. Pete Beach.
Investigators say Chenhall was walking on the sidewalk near Captiva Circle and Blind Pass Road when Yovan drove onto the curb and hit him around 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release.
Yovan then drove off and caused another crash some 2 miles away at Gulf Boulevard and Gulf Winds Drive, the release states. No one was hurt in that crash.
Chenhall was taken to an area hospital, where he died a short time later, authorities say.
Yovan refused to provide breath samples after the crashes. She is charged with misdemeanor driving while license suspended or revoked, felony leaving the scene of a crash with death and felony driving under the influence manslaughter.
The crashes remain under investigation.
