CLEARWATER, Fla. – A 76-year-old woman outsmarted a man who tried to kidnap her in the parking lot of a Hobby Lobby, the Clearwater Police Department said.
Douglas Clark Harry Hoover cornered the woman against her car and said, “get in the car I have a gun”, according to Clearwater police.
The woman refused, screamed and fell to the ground.
A witness then chased Hoover through the parking lot. Hoover ran away from the scene.
Clearwater police officers and K-9 tracked Hoover to an apartment complex at Stag Run Boulevard near Frontage Road.
Officers found Hoover and arrested him.
Hoover, 37, is charged with attempted kidnapping to commit a felony.
