ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 5-year-old boy is in the hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car Sunday afternoon on 18th Avenue South in St. Pete.
The incident happened around 3:22 p.m., according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. The boy was taken to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
The driver reportedly stopped and is cooperating with investigators. In the meantime, police say 18th Avenue South will be closed to traffic from 16th Street to 17th Street for several hours as the investigation continues.
