ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg will soon become home to what developers are calling the "tallest residential building on the Gulf Coast of Florida."

On Monday, a topping-out ceremony was held for The Residences at 400 Central, marking the completion of the building's structural phase. The event also allowed John Catsimatidis, founder of the Red Apple Group, to recognize over 700 Suffolk Construction workers who have been part of the project.

“I am tremendously proud of the team that has come together to create this iconic building,” Catsimatidis said in a statement. “It is great to see the building secure its place in St. Petersburg’s skyline and to see buyers choosing 400 Central as their future home.”

The tower — which will be located off of Central Avenue in downtown — is slated to be completed and ready for residents in mid-2025, according to a press release. Once it's completed, the 515-foot-tall building will include 301 condominium homes and 46 stories. There will also be ground-floor retail space and restaurants.

An exclusive Sky Observatory will offer views from the highest point of St. Petersburg, the release stated. For companies looking to locate their operations in the heart of St. Petersburg, 400 Central will have approximately 45,000 square feet of Class A office space atop the building podium.

“Our team took tremendous pride in managing the construction of The Residences at 400 Central, a stunning building that has literally reshaped the skyline of beautiful St. Petersburg,” Suffolk General Manager Jim Scarpace said in a statement. “It was truly an honor to partner with the Catsimatidis family and Red Apple Real Estate on this important project, and it was a unique opportunity to demonstrate how our innovative approach to project management, state-of-the-art technologies, and leveraging of jobsite data have revolutionized the construction process.”
