3 missing siblings taken by parents after custody meeting found in Pasco County

The DCF meeting may have impacted the parents' ability to retain custody of their three young kids, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Three young siblings were found in Pasco County after their parents fled a custody meeting with the Department of Children and Families, bringing the children with them.

For one week, Florida Missing Child Alerts were active for 6-year-old Benjamin Spears, 1-year-old Hannah Spears and 6-month-old Noah Spears.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, detectives with the Largo Police Department were able to locate the kids in Pasco County. The agency said it worked with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office to recover the children, who were "unharmed."

On Feb. 28, the children attended a meeting at the Department of Children and Families on Ulmerton Road with their parents, 28-year-old Natalie Spears and 32-year-old Tyler Spears, according to police.

"During the visit, information was developed that would have affected Tyler and Natalie's ability to retain custody of their children," the police department wrote.

Authorities say Natalie and Tyler fled the meeting with their children and were initially believed to be somewhere in South St. Petersburg.

Largo police said there is still an active and ongoing investigation into the incident, but said no more information was available at that time.
