ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — No one was seriously injured when a 10-year-old crashed a stolen car Thursday evening along Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say just after 6 p.m., the boy from St. Petersburg took a Nissan Altima from his aunt in the area of 8th Avenue and 9th Street and was driving northbound on I-275.
As the child approached I-375, he sideswiped a Ford F-250 in the next lane, causing the Nissan to spin out and crash into the bridge rail on the outside shoulder of the road, FHP reports.
The 27-year-old man driving the Ford F-250 came to a controlled stop.
The 10-year-old boy suffered only minor injuries in the crash. The other driver and his two passengers were uninjured.
