WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — Florida troopers are asking the public to help them identify the driver who crashed into a 17-year-old girl on a scooter Thursday morning, leaving her with a broken arm.
The Wesley Chapel teen was crossing Tonka Terrace just south of Oldwoods Avenue just after 7 a.m. when the driver of an older model sedan failed to stop and crashed into her, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the driver reportedly asked the girl if she was OK and suddenly drove off on Oldwoods Avenue. She was taken to a hospital and treated for her injury.
The girl told troopers he was aged in his 20s, with semi-long shaggy brown hair and brown eyes. It's believed the sedan could have front-end damage.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at *347 or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
