WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — A 66-year-old woman died after she was hit by a driver in Wesley Chapel, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened just before 6 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and State Road 56.
A 25-year-old Tampa woman was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in the left turn lanes approaching the intersection, FHP said. At the same time, a 66-year-old woman from Zephyrhills walking eastbound reportedly stepped off the median and into the path of the driver.
The car hit the woman, FHP said. The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she later died, troopers said.
