PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — One teen was killed and another was seriously hurt after a Thursday night crash on U.S. 41 in Pasco County.

It happened just before 11 p.m. on U.S. 41 just north of Little Lake Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 45-year-old Spring Hill man was driving his Honda Civic northbound on U.S. 41 when he attempted to pass other traffic.

A 17-year-old Tampa boy was driving his Subaru Impreza southbound on the road and swerved into the shoulder to avoid a crash with the Honda Civic, troopers said. After swerving, he crashed into a concrete culvert, causing the Subaru to flip multiple times.

The 17-year-old boy was thrown from the car and died at the scene. The 16-year-old girl in his passenger seat was seriously hurt.
