WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — A 19-year-old ran through a red light and killed a bicyclist who was crossing the highway in Wesley Chapel, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The teen was driving his Honda Pilot eastbound just after 11 p.m. Sunday on State Road 56 when he didn't stop at a red light at the intersection with Shops Lane. He hit a 50-year-old woman who was riding her bike in a marked crosswalk, according to troopers.

The driver was not injured, but officials said the bicyclist was transported to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

It is not clear if the driver was arrested or is facing charges.
