New Port Richey, Florida -- If you've ever tried to renew a driver's license or a state ID, you know a birth certificate is essential.
But if you don't have one handy, Pasco County is making it a little easier to get a new one.
"We are constantly striving to make it as easy as possible for our customers to comply with the needs of the federal mandates regarding identification," says Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano. "Additionally, a customer may need a copy of their birth certificate for various other purposes."
If you were born in Florida, you can fill out an application at any of the Pasco Tax Collectors offices.
The first certificate will cost $18.25, with additional copies for $8 each. Before purchasing the certificate, the customer must present a valid ID in the form of a drivers license, a state-issued ID card, a passport, a military ID or any other acceptable government-issued ID.
