Pasco Co. deputies shoot, kill man who reportedly pointed firearm at them

Pasco County deputies returned fire after a man at Many Mansion RV Park shot at them, reports said.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla.—The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after deputies shot a man who pointed a weapon at them Thursday night.

The sheriff's office identified James Palmquist, 54, as the man who died in the shooting early Friday morning.

Palmquist’s roommate called law enforcement just after 6:30 p.m. saying he was suicidal, according to reports.

Palmquist left a mobile home at Many Mansion RV Park and yelled, "F*** you cops," before pointing a firearm at deputies, according to Sheriff Chris Nocco. Deputies shot him. He was conscious and alert before he was taken to the hospital for treatment but then died from his injuries, said Nocco.

Nocco said the deputies would be placed on administrative leave as part of investigation protocol.

On Friday, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office identified the deputies as Sgt. Chad Tadlock, who has been with the agency since 2000, and Deputy Aaron Ziegler, who has been with the agency since 2007. Neither was hurt.
