Driver responsible for New Port Richey hit-and-run crash arrested

FHP troopers said a Pasco County deputy recognized the driver from a previous incident.

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Days after a man caused a hit-and-run crash in Pasco County, he is in custody, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.

Troopers said they found and arrested Larry Alan Crosier Wednesday at his home in Holiday. Crosier was found after a Pasco County deputy recognized him from a previous incident, FHP explained. Crosier was charged with leaving the scene of a crash and driving with a suspended license.

The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday. According to FHP, Crosier was driving a Ford Escape SUV heading northbound on DeCubellis Road and did not stop at a red light traffic signal at the intersection of Ridge Road in New Port Richey.

That's when he crashed into a Nissan Altima that was stopped at the light and driven by a 66-year-old man, authorities say.

The 66-year-old was reportedly not hurt in the crash.

However, Crosier kept on going northbound on DeCubellis Road after the crash, but he was driving too fast as he approached a curve in the roadway, troopers say. Crosier's SUV then drove off the road and flipped over several times.

Once the SUV stopped overturning, Crosier ran away from the vehicle and scene, FHP says.

From there, the search for Crosier was on and troopers asked for help finding him. FHP said ways to identify Crosier were by a cobra tattoo on his right leg and a cast on his left arm.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver or the hit-and-run crash was asked to call FHP at *347 or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
