PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A man fired a fatal shot at his neighbor, who made an approach and threatened to kill him, deputies say.
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday in the area of 10300 County Lake Drive, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office news release.
Joshua Ellis, 34, was at home arguing with a woman, deputies said. His 39-year-old neighbor heard the commotion and stepped outside his house to see what was happening.
The neighbor stayed on his property, deputies say, as Ellis approached and made a threat to kill him. While on the phone with 911, the neighbor fired one shot into Ellis' chest with a 9mm handgun.
The neighbor tried to apply pressure to Ellis' chest to stop the bleeding, but he was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
No one has been placed under arrest, however, the investigation is ongoing.
