'I don't feel like I'm a movie star': Pasco deputy reflects on time on 'Live PD'

Deputy Nick Carmack and his K-9 Shep became fan favorites on the hit A&E show, but the pair's time on air has come to an end.

Pasco County Deputy Nick Carmack and his K-9 Shep became overnight TV stars on the hit A&E show "Live PD."

“I mean, I did a picture earlier, yeah. Probably once a day to be honest,” Carmack said of his fans. “I always say I'm just a boy with a dog. I don't feel like a movie star or nothing.”

After two years, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office announced it’s leaving "Live PD." During their run, Carmack and Shep were fan favorites on the show that pulls back the curtain on law enforcement, showing what they do in almost real time.

“We're just like everybody else,” Carmack said. “We put our pants on the same way. If we're having a bad day, it's just like they're having a bad day. It's no different. We're all people.”

In his two seasons, Carmack said tracking a suspect in the rain was his most memorable moment. However, his fans will remember him for shouting, “Get off my dog, bro!” during a different chase.

That line became Carmack’s catchphrase.

“I didn't mean to say it. It was just something I said at the time,” Carmack explained. “Essentially he was choking the dog with his chain. I was watching him, so I knew what he was doing. I just yelled, 'Get off my dog, bro!'”

Now that Pasco County is signing off of the show, Carmack and Shep are moving on to life after "Live PD."

“Crime happens everywhere,” Carmack said. “It's going to happen, they're going to get it on film, you're going to watch it.”
