HUDSON, Fla. — In Pasco County's town of Hudson, right along the Gulf, homeowners and businesses are still recovering from flooding caused by Hurricane Idalia.
"That was a tough one," said Kirk Campbell, owner of Hudson Dockside Inn. "We had more than 2 feet of water flood in and we’ve been renovating over the last three months and had to replace everything."
From new flooring to appliances, the renovation process has been costly and time-consuming.
Now, as a strong storm system blows across the Tampa Bay area this weekend, Campbell said he's anxious to think his hard work could be washed away.
"Having worked the last four months to rebuild, I’m a little scared thinking about having to do it all over again starting at the beginning."
Campbell said he will get little sleep Saturday night, as he stays alert on behalf of his guests to storm updates. He said he's also prepared to move any furniture if he does start to see the water rising to a level that makes him uncomfortable.
While he said another flood would present a costly situation, he would be prepared to do it all over again if he had to.
"This is what I love," Campbell said. "There’s a price for everything and this is the price for paradise."
