SPRING HILL, Fla. — A 35-year-old man died after being ejected and run over by an ATV after the alleged drunk driver lost control.

Ford K. Perkins, 32, was driving in circles on a private road behind a Sunoco Gas Station on Shady Hills Road when he lost control and flipped the ATV on Sunday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

The passenger in the front right seat was ejected as the vehicle overturned, and Perkins ran him over. He later died from his injuries, troopers said.

Perkins took off on foot and was later found a short distance away from the scene. He was arrested for DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, according to officials.

Another passenger, a 24-year-old, and Perkins were both unharmed.
