Group helps Hispanic entrepreneurs

An interview with Fabian Yepez

For many people, being your own boss and running your own business is part of the American dream. But the business world can be a tough place and that’s why the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund was formed 25 years ago. “We are a non-profit that basically helps Hispanic entrepreneurs start, build, and grow their businesses,” explains Fabian Yepez from the HBIF.

HBIF holds workshops in Spanish and will analyze a business to determine its greatest needs. Then experts will help the business owner do what’s needed to become successful. For example, HBIF consultants may help design a website, business or marketing plan.

Yepez says what's good for Hispanic business is good for the state’s economy. “Our idea is to create more jobs among Hispanics and help with the economy here in Florida,” he says.

HBIF has offices in Tampa, Orlando, and South Florida. On October 18th, HBIF holds its annual Success Story luncheon in Orlando. This is a great way to find out more about the group and the help it offers. For luncheon information click here.
