BRADENTON, Fla. — An 18-year-old died from his injuries following a shooting Friday evening, authorities said.
Deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. to the area of 34th Avenue Drive and 5th Street East on a call of a shooting, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Shortly after they arrived, they learned that Reginald Fields had already been taken to the hospital. He died shortly before 7 p.m., the sheriff's office said.
Witnesses told law enforcement Fields was inside a car with other people when a gun was fired. It's still unknown what led to the single shot.
The sheriff's office said it appears everyone involved in the incident is accounted for and an investigation is ongoing.
