BRADENTON, Fla. — A Manatee County man could face life in prison for the death of his mother and her boyfriend earlier this month.

The state attorney's office announced on Wednesday that 36-year-old Thomas Matejcek was indicted for two counts of first-degree murder for crimes committed on Nov. 10.

Deputies were called just after 12 p.m. about a disturbance in the Arbor Terrace RV community on 55th Avenue West in Bradenton. According to the sheriff's office, neighbors heard a woman screaming for help and called 911.

Deputies said they arrived to find 62-year-old Patricia Matejcek and her boyfriend, 55-year-old Sean Harrison Sr.,  dead on the floor of a home. The first responding deputy also saw a man running away from the home as he drove up.

Within minutes, the sheriff's office says that man — identified as Patricia's son Thomas — was located and arrested along 14th Street West.

"I commend the numerous deputies who converged on this area and quickly apprehended Matejcek for this senseless crime," Sheriff Rick Wells said at the time.

The state attorney's office said Thomas Matejcek went to his mother's home to confront her and her boyfriend, but a motive for the murders was never revealed.
