Manatee County detectives investigate a shooting that happened in a Bradenton backyard

Witnesses say multiple teens ran from gunfire while they were hanging out in a backyard.

BRADENTON, Fla. — Manatee Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that happened in a backyard Friday night in Bradenton.

The shooting happened in the area of 8th Avenue Drive and 59th Street West in Bradenton, a news release said.

Deputies received a call from someone saying a shooting happened in a backyard that caused injuries shortly after 7 p.m. Friday.

When they arrived, deputies found a 17-year-old lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest. Officials performed life-saving measures on the person until EMS got there. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
