Manatee County authorities hope someone recognizes this example of a shoe that a person was wearing when their body was found floating in the water.

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Investigators are turning to a sneaker description to help identify the remains of a body found in Rattlesnake Key over the weekend.

The victim was found floating in the water by a boater in the area and was wearing a size 11 men's black and neon green Nike Free Trainer (example pictured below), according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. They, too, were wearing and a white ankle-high athletic sock.

In the statement, the agency added these were the only articles of clothing found on the body. It also mentioned that the Medical Examiner's findings were inconclusive after an autopsy on Monday.

Due to decomposition, further testing will need to be performed to determine the age of the body and to gather DNA, according to investigators.

The body has yet to be matched with any missing person cases and anyone with information about a missing person who may have worn the shoe should call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at 941-747-3011, the agency said.
