BRADENTON, Fla. — A man is facing charges after he hit a woman and an 8-year-old boy on a bicycle while pulling out of his driveway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
It happened just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on State Road 70 near U.S. 301 in Bradenton.
Troopers say the driver, a 45-year-old man, was in his pickup truck parked in his driveway as he waited for traffic on State Road 70.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy were riding one bicycle east on the north sidewalk of State Road 70.
Just as the bicyclists entered the man's driveway directly in front of his truck, he pulled out and hit them, according to FHP.
The woman and the boy were taken to Bayshore Gardens Emergency Room with minor injuries.
The driver was charged with having an expired driver's license and failing to yield from the driveway access to pedestrians.
