BRADENTON, Fla. — A man was arrested on Friday in connection to the murder of his mother and her boyfriend, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called just after 12 p.m. about a disturbance in the Arbor Terrace RV community on 55th Avenue West in Bradenton. According to the sheriff's office, neighbors heard a woman screaming for help and called 911.
Deputies said they arrived to find 62-year-old Patricia Matejcek and her boyfriend, 55-year-old Sean Harrison Sr., dead on the floor of a home. The first responding deputy also saw a man running away from the home as he drove up.
Within minutes, the sheriff's office says that man — identified as 36-year-old Thomas Matejcek — was located and arrested along 14th Street West.
In an update on Saturday, the sheriff's office confirmed Thomas is Patricia's son. He was charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
"I commend the numerous deputies who converged on this area and quickly apprehended Matejcek for this senseless crime," Sheriff Rick Wells said.
According to investigators, a motive is still being investigated.
