BRADENTON, Fla. — A Bradenton Police Department K-9 is calling it a career after officers wished her a happy retirement!

On Facebook, department officials announced K-9 Blue is leaving the force after being with BPD since January 2019.

K-9 Blue served in the agency's narcotics unit, helping investigations with the Central Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area's Gulf Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations.

In the last two years, she has helped police recover 60 kg of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy and marijuana.

"BPD's K9s live with their handlers and become beloved family members," BPD wrote on Facebook. "So, while she might not be a working dog anymore, she'll still be a part of the BPD family!"
