Manatee County: Gulf Islands Ferry riders can now set sail on Thursdays

The ferry now runs four days per week, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday to Sunday, according to a release.

BRADENTON, Fla. — Gulf Islands Ferry will add an extra day to its weekly services, according to a news release.

It will now begin picking up residents in the Bradenton area on Thursdays, with booking available starting Feb. 29. The updated schedule now runs four days per week, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday to Sunday, barring any inclement weather, the release said.

The ferry stops in downtown Bradenton, Anna Maria City Pier and Bridge Street Pier in Bradenton Beach.

“This is part of our continued commitment to boost multi-modal transportation in our community, helping families spend less time in traffic and more time together,” Manatee County Commissioner Kevin Van Ostenbridge said.

There is enough room on the two catamarans to hold 49 passengers and crew members to ensure a smooth ride to and from each port,according to the release.
