FLORIDA, USA — In cities across the country, including Tampa Bay, people have been protesting police brutality in the wake of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis police custody.
Derek Chauvin and three other officers were fired. Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder. The other officers, Tou Thao, J Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane, were charged with aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter.

5:50 a.m. (June 5)
St. Petersburg Police said no arrests were made during protests Thursday.
In a tweet they wrote, "No arrests, no confrontations, no problems...Thank you for the peaceful demonstrations today. A step in the right direction!"
9:40 p.m. (June 4)
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office shared images of deputies out in Plant City "closely monitoring" a protest. Deputies were joined by the FHP and Plant City Police Department.
The sheriff's office said approximately 125 protesters marched down Collins and South Evers Street gathering in front of the Hillsborough County Circuit Courthouse and sharing a prayer with deputies.
Thanking those who participated in sharing their voices peacefully, Sheriff Chad Chronister wrote, " The group, which consisted of people of all ages, voiced its message in a strong and meaningful way, and we want to assure them we are listening. Peaceful protests demand respect and applause."
8:18 p.m. (June 4)
Protesters gathered at MLK Street and 22nd Ave. N in St. Pete shouting "Use your voice, not your hands." The group took a knee at the intersection for some time before continuing down the road.
7:56 p.m. (June 4)
Protesters have gathered in Tampa making their way to the Tampa Police Department headquarters. The crowd was asking the police to take a knee in solidarity with them.
5:31 p.m. (June 4)
Crowds of protesters are marching throughout St. Petersburg tonight to mark another night of protests in honor of George Floyd.
People can be seen carrying signs and chanting, while others shut down the intersection of 4th street N and 22nd street with a demonstration. The group lying in the street for the amount of time Floyd was held down by police.
