Thursday is the last day to get a FREE replacement for your old, battery-operated SunPass transponder.
The Florida Department of Transportation says after December 31, these transponders will no longer work with Florida's toll systems, because the electronic equipment that reads the old transponders will be removed.
SunPass is phasing out the old transponders and replacing them with new ones that could one day be compatible with toll systems across the country, which could prevent excessive toll fees when you drive out-of-state.
You can also request a new transponder by phone by calling 1-855-TAG SWAP. Replacements could take up to 30 days to receive.
