Louisiana police officer dies on duty

Sergeant Peter Foltz worked for the department for 20 years.

KENNER, La. — Editor's Note: Funeral arrangements were announced on Friday. According to Nola.com. Sgt. Foltz will be laid to rest with full honors on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. 

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and the service will follow.

The Kenner Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. According to Kenner Police Department officials, Sergeant Peter Foltz passed away in the line of duty following a medical incident.

Foltz worked for the department for 20 years. 

The Kenner Police Department asked that you keep his family, friends, fellow officers, and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. 

Police did not give any details on the incident.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Sergeant Peter Foltz, a dedicated 20-year veteran of the Kenner Police Department. Sgt. Foltz tragically passed away in the line of duty following a medical incident. We ask that you keep his family, friends, fellow officers and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Gretna Police Department, NOPD, and New Orleans EMS for their courageous efforts and support. Rest in peace, Sgt. Foltz. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
