TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa man was arrested for DUI after crashing a motorcycle into a guardrail off Interstate 4 – leading to the death of a 29-year-old woman, a news release from Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The 37-year-old man, identified as Jonathon Wing, was driving a Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle northbound on Interstate 275 with the woman on the back. But when the motorcycle exited onto eastbound I-4, Wing reportedly lost control.
According to the agency, the bike ended up crashing into a guardrail on the inside shoulder.
The 29-year-old woman was left with serious injuries from the collision and was taken to a hospital where she later died, FHP explains.
Wing was left with minor injuries and was "determined to be impaired," the release explains. He was later arrested by troopers for DUI manslaughter.
