Bodycam: Woman attempts to scale apartment building to avoid arrest by Hillsborough deputies

Quanae Toussaint had felony warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a gun in a public or residential property, the sheriff's office said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Bodycam video from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office shows a woman trying to escape deputies by scaling her apartment before being arrested on Tuesday.

Quanae Toussaint, 27, had felony warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a gun in a public or residential property, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

The video shows deputies were able to track Toussaint to her apartment, but when they busted the door down, they saw the suspect attempting to climb out of her second-story window.

The 27-year-old can be seen standing on a window ledge to support herself as a deputy tries to pull her back into the room. Authorities can be heard repeatedly shouting at the woman to stop.

"Get up in there!" one deputy shouted as Toussaint was pulled inside.

"We're trying to help you!" another can be heard saying.

In the Facebook post, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said, "To see our deputies shift from making an arrest to preserving life is commendable." The sheriff continued by saying the woman "had no intention of being arrested" and that he was proud of his deputies "for taking her into custody safely."

In the post, the sheriff's office reminded residents never to try scaling a building to avoid arrest.
