HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A 13-year-old girl is now dead after she was struck walking across US-41 Saturday night, a news release said.
Florida Highway Patrol said it happened at almost 11 p.m. when a 17-year-old male from Gibsonton traveled down US-41 near Apollo Beach. Officials said he was driving a Chevy Silverado.
Once the driver approached north of Big Bend Road, the girl from Tampa “entered the path of” traffic and was fatally hit by the driver’s Chevy, the release said.
Authorities said she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
