HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Emergency Operations Center is offering new ways to get rid of home debris after Hurricane Milton slammed Florida's west coast and left many homes and businesses destroyed.

Hillsborough County is making two storm debris sites available 24 hours a day, according to a release from county leaders.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, you can drop off storm debris at the Hillsborough Heights Solid Waste Facility and the Hillsborough County's Resource Recovery Facility at any time of the day or night.

Both facilities accept storm-related yard debris and construction and demolition debris like furniture, drywall, carpet and fencing.

Also, starting on Wednesday, all the county's solid waste sites will be for Hillsborough County residents only.

To use the sites, you'll have to show a photo ID with an address that matches your Hillsborough County home and a printed or digital copy of your current property tax bill.

Other options to dispose of storm debris include the Northwest County Solid Waste Facility at 8001 W. Linebaugh Avenue or the South County Solid Waste Facility at 13000 U.S. 41.

Both facilities accept residential yard waste and wood disposal and a variety of household items, including furniture, couches, chairs, tables, mattresses, washers, dryers, tires and microwaves.

The centers also accept batteries, electronics and paint.

Starting on Wednesday, commercial businesses will resume paying normal fees to utilize solid waste facilities.

Also, Alderman's Ford Solid Waste Facility at 9402 County Road 39 and Wimauma Solid Waste Facility at 16180 W. Lake Drive accept a variety of household items.

Those include furniture, couches, chairs, tables, mattresses, washers, dryers, tires, and microwaves, batteries, electronics and paint.

However, they do not accept yard waste and wood disposal.
