Trent Degulis was charged with trespassing but "appears to have bonded out," a sheriff's office spokesperson said.

RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A 19-year-old was arrested after climbing a Hillsborough County transmitter tower and posting about it on social media.

Authorities say Trent Degulis was spotted around 7 p.m. Saturday on top of the tower on Rhodine Road in Riverview.

Witnesses who reported the incident directed deputies to Degulis' location, where he was seen "climbing back down the tower after live-streaming a video to his social media," the sheriff's office wrote in a post on X.

The 19-year-old was arrested without incident once he reached the ground.

"Our aviation unit and deputies continue to exemplify our commitment to safety," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Their expertise and quick action ensured a potentially dangerous situation was resolved safely. We're proud of their dedication to keeping our community safe."

The sheriff's office posted helicopter footage that shows the teen climbing down the tower.

"I wanted to see the sunset," Degulis said when asked why made the approximately 1,600-foot climb. He added that it was the first time he had done it.

Degulis also shared photos with 10 Tampa Bay that he took at the top of the tower.

Authorities charged Degulis with trespassing but "appears to have bonded out," a sheriff's office spokesperson said.
