Teen killed after being shot in the head during Tampa drive-by shooting

Police said they are working to find the people responsible and are asking the public for help.

TAMPA, Fla. — A 17-year-old is dead after he was shot in the head as a result of what police are calling a drive-by shooting Saturday afternoon in Tampa, police said. 

The shooting happened before 3:30 p.m. in the area of East Emma Street and North 37th Street

Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they found a 17-year-old boy who'd been shot in the head. Life-saving efforts by police and Tampa Fire Rescue were taken on scene before the teen was rushed to the hospital. He died from his injuries there, police said. 

Tampa police said its detectives are "diligently" working to identify the people involved and what led up to the deadly shooting.
