TAMPA, Fla. — This St. Patrick's Day weekend in the downtown Tampa area will require a little more patience and planning to get around efficiently.

With events like Tampa Downtown’s “River O’ Green” event and Rough Rider’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade happening simultaneously, the city officials encourage people in and around the downtown area to prepare for detours, congested roads and limited parking options.

The city provided a list of different events happening March 13-17 from its Downtown Tampa St. Patrick’s Day Traffic Advisory:

  • March 13 – 16 Tampa Convention Center - FL State Thespians
  • March 14 – 17 Armature Works - Pied Piper's XOXO Carnival
  • March 15 – 17 Tampa Convention Center - Molten Florida Pre-Qualifier (volleyball tournament)
  • March 16 Amalie Arena - Tom Segura (8 pm)
  • March 16 Curtis Hixon Park - Tampa's Downtown River O' Green (11 am - 6 pm)
  • March 16 Downtown Tampa - Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Parade (5 pm)
  • March 17 St. Patrick's Day (increased foot traffic expected downtown)

A map also details the Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Day Parade route on East Madison Street, North Ashley Drive and East Polk Street:

The parade runs down East Madison Street, North Ashley Drive and East Polk Street.

The city also encourages people to arrive early to their event and consider using alternative routes to get there. This may include parking in Ybor City and taking the free TECO Streetcar or taking any available eBike/eScooter rental services.

High pedestrian traffic in the downtown area is expected.

Tampa Police Department will also be on high alert for drivers who may be driving under the influence, the city said.
