TAMPA, Fla. — Billowing smoke and visible flames filled the air early Friday morning in Tampa after a local scrap yard caught fire, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The 911 calls started coming in around 6:21 a.m. prompting fire crews to head to Scrap King on Dover Street, where callers said the fire was coming from. When the first crew arrived, they confirmed several large piles of scrap material were "engulfed in flames" across the scrap yard.

It didn't take firefighters too long to get the fire under control, fire rescue said.

"Thanks to an aggressive and well-coordinated attack, our crews controlled the fire in under an hour," fire rescue said in a release in part.

No one was hurt in the fire, crews said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
