Tampa police seek leads in shooting of 11-year-old boy

The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police are asking the public for any information that could help them identify who shot an 11-year-old boy over the weekend. 

The shooting happened around 10:17 p.m. Sunday as the boy stood on his front porch in the C. Blythe Andrews Apartments complex, located a 2201 E. Osborne Ave., according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police say he was taken to an area hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

"Our thoughts are with this family as this senseless act has left an innocent child in our community injured," Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. "Our officers are committed to identifying the person responsible and holding this individual accountable. I believe that with the assistance of our community, we can bring this family the justice they deserve."
