TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa Police Department officer on a motorcycle was seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning at Adamo Drive and 26th Street in the city's Ybor City neighborhood.
The 38-year-old officer was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Adamo Drive when a 54-year-old woman driving a red Honda Accord crossed southbound along Adamo Drive, according to a department news release.
She reportedly cut in front of the officer and collided with the police motorcycle.
The officer was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries, which include a possible fractured femur, the department said in the statement.
Police added that the 54-year-old woman was not injured and remained at the scene while cooperating with the investigation.
It's expected she will be cited for the crash.
