TAMPA, Fla. — An investigation is underway after Tampa police found human skeletal remains on a vacant property.
The remains were found off of West Emily Street, according to a Tampa Police Department news release. Police say the property has been vacant for a while and is not in good condition.
Authorities were reportedly at the property to clean it up when they found the skeletal remains. Police said there are no apparent signs of foul play at this time.
A program at the University of South Florida or medical examiners will work to determine how long the person has been dead and the gender of the person, a TPD spokesperson said.
Detectives are working to identify the remains and determine how the person died, the agency said in a statement.
