TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa man is close to $1 million richer after he bought a winning scratch-off ticket from the Florida Lottery.

The Lottery said in a news release Friday that 45-year-old Yorjhans Rodriguez Damas claimed a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery's $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR Scratch-Off game. He decided to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment totaling $640,000.

According to the Lottery, Rodriguez Damas bought the winning ticket from Silver 7 Food Mart, located at 1701 West Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa.

The Silver 7 Food Mart will get a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.

The Lottery says the $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR is a $50 scratch-off game that started in February 2023. It has two top prizes of $1 million a year for life and 234 prizes of $1 million. The latter is one of the prizes Rodriguez Damas won. The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.50, the Lottery said.
