HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A 73-year-old man from Tampa is dead after he was hit by a car while riding a scooter, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said in a news release.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday, FHP said. The 46-year-old driver of a Hyundai Elantra was reportedly traveling southbound on Florida Avenue while the victim was riding just north of 122nd Avenue.
The 73-year-old man attempted to cross the roadway before he ended up in the path of the Elantra and was hit, according to troopers. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
