TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa International Airport is experiencing high numbers of flight cancellations and delays as spring break kicks into full gear this weekend.
The airport's website posts more than 300 delays and 93 cancellations among their total 653 scheduled flights as of 10 p.m. Saturday, which is what TPA expected earlier this week.
TPA told 10 Tampa Bay that the delays were due to a long band of thunderstorms just north of Florida.
The Federal Aviation Administration has a delay program in effect for arriving and departing flights due to the growing number of flights and severe weather, TPA said.
Meanwhile, TPA encourages travelers to check with their airlines for up-to-date flight schedules.
