TAMPA, Fla. — A woman is in serious condition after she was trapped during a fire at her apartment complex Thursday evening.
At about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, multiple people called Hillsborough County Fire Rescue to report a fire at an apartment complex on Cedar Trace Circle in Tampa, where a woman was trapped. Crews got there within five minutes, the department said in a news release.
Heavy smoke from the second floor led crews to the fire, where they immediately began searching for the woman while other firefighters extinguished the flames. The woman was found and transported to a local trauma center where she is in serious condition but stable, firefighters said. The blaze was extinguished within 10 minutes.
A fire investigator determined the fire was related to cooking.
