TAMPA, Fla. — A 26-year-old was charged with first-degree murder after a man was found dead Friday afternoon, Tampa police said in an update Saturday.
Police said they believe Lazaro Martinez Basilio killed a man after the two got into an argument back on Nov 7.
Officers were called around 2:15 p.m. on Friday to conduct a welfare check on Okara Road near N 27th Street, a couple of blocks from Busch Gardens.
At the home, police said they found a man in his 50s dead, wrapped in a blanket, and Martinez Basilio hiding under a couch in the living severely dehydrated. He was later taken to a local hospital.
The department said detectives worked overnight to gather leads and to interview witnesses. From the information collected, they were able to make an arrest.
