Fire rescue: Man killed after accident with drill at worksite

Few details have been released. OSHA has begun an investigation.

TAMPA, Fla. — A man was killed in a work site accident Thursday morning in Tampa, according to Tampa Fire Rescue. 

Rescue crews said they responded around 11:16 a.m. to a work site on East Adamo Drive near North 50th Street. Sky 10 flew over the area just after noon Thursday, which showed first responders and police outside Tampa Tank, Inc. a structural steel business. 

Fire Rescue did not specify who the man worked for. 

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they said they found a man who had died as a result of an accident with an auger, a type of drilling tool. 

No other details have been released by authorities. Fire Rescue said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the accident.
