TAMPA, Fla. — A firefighter was taken to the hospital after crews stopped a two-alarm apartment fire, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
In a news release sent by the agency, they received calls around 9 a.m. Monday regarding smoke and fire coming from a second-floor building at The Park at Lake Como Apartment Homes located near the area of Sandstone Lake Drive and Webb Road.
After finding the smoke and fire from the apartment, the incident commander reportedly called in another crew to respond, as the fire may have spread to other units.
HCFR said its crews brought hose up the stairs and into the apartment, controlling the flames after arriving 20 minutes prior. After searching several apartments, crews reported that they found nobody inside any units.
One firefighter was taken from the scene to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
