THONOTOSASSA, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says it's conducting a "suspicious death" investigation after a body was found near Hillsborough River State Park.
Deputies responded just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday to Dead River Road near Old Fort King Trail in Thonotosassa after receiving reports of a dead body.
The investigation is ongoing and the cause of death is still unknown.
“While the circumstances surrounding this death are undetermined at this time, our detectives will work diligently to put together the missing pieces to uncover what unfolded here,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “I am asking if anyone knows anything, please, contact us immediately.”
