TAMPA, Fla. — A 15-year-old Sickles High School student is accused of supplying liquid THC to two other students who got sick after consuming the drug through a vape device.
The two girls got sick around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office described them both as lethargic and then aggressive.
One girl was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital North and given a dose of Narcan by emergency medical workers who feared the substance might have been laced with Fentanyl. She was later released from the hospital.
The second girl refused to be taken to the hospital and was released to her mom.
At this point, law enforcement has no evidence the liquid THC was laced with anything. A sample has been sent to a lab for testing.
"This case should be a warning to anyone who experiments with vaping THC," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Many people mistakingly believe it is a safer alternative to smoking marijuana and that is anything but the truth. You just do not know what it could be mixed with and could end up with some severe health consequences that could be fatal. This time we were very fortunate that the outcome was not as severe as it could have been."
The boy who allegedly supplied the THC was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
